Clorox Names Pamela Hewitt VP-Human Resources

OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 27, 2003 – The Clorox Company (NYSE: CLX) (PSE: CLX) today announced that Pamela S. Hewitt has joined the company as vice president-human resources and has been elected an officer by Clorox's board of directors. Hewitt reports to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Craig Sullivan, and succeeds Janet Brady who retired on Jan. 1, 2003, following 26 years with the company.

"Pam brings great depth and breadth of experience to her responsibility for corporate-wide human resources," said Sullivan. "Her tremendous expertise in human resources and her long-standing commitment to community service are a great fit for Clorox."

Hewitt, 50, brings more than 25 years' experience in the human resources field, much of it in the consumer packaged goods industry. She comes to Clorox following a 10-year career at The Quaker Oats Company, where she most recently served as senior vice president-human resources. Prior to joining Quaker, Hewitt held human resources positions with KFC Management Corp., Nestlé Foods and Container Corp. of America, and worked as an employment counselor for the Chicago Urban League.
Hewitt holds a bachelor's degree in education from Plattsburgh State University, and a master's degree in education from Kent State University.
